Intro to Flamenco for Adults
In collaboration with Ballet Tucson as part of the Summer Adult Workshops!
When: Wednesdays 7pm-8pm
June 10th & 17th

Cost: $18 per class
This class is a safe and comfortable introduction to flamenco! The first half of the class will cover movement and terminology focusing on Floreo (hand movements), Braceo (arm movements), Zapateado/Taconeo (footwork), Marcajes (marking steps), Compás y Palmas (rhythm and hand-clapping), Giros (turns). The second half of the class will introduce a movement combination using the rhythm called Tangos Flamencos, a 4/4 count dance that is playful to the body and the ear!
LEVEL: Absolute Beginner

Flamenco Technique & Intro to Sevillanas
When: Saturdays 11:15am-12:30pm (1 hour 15 min)
June 6th & 13th
July 4th- 11th

Cost: 6 weeks $108 / per month $40/ per class $22
This class focuses on the understanding of flamenco movement and terminology focusing on Floreo (hand movements), Braceo (arm movements), Zapateado/Taconeo (footwork), Marcajes (marking steps), Compás y Palmas (rhythm and hand-clapping), Giros (turns) relative to the folk dance of Sevilla, Spain called SEVILLANAS.
Sevillanas is a 4 part dance (called coplas) to a waltz like Rhythm. Typically dances with a partner this dance is a social dance that is done in celebratory events!
In the 6 weeks, this class will cover coplas 1 and 2 with feet, arms & partners. Coplas 3 & 4 will resume during the regular class season in September.

Intermediate Flamenco Technique and Repertoire is for students with an experienced level of flamenco exposure. Dancers will engage in complete warm, complex movement combinations, advanced footwork drills and develop repertoire for Bulerías Por Soleá.
June 19th & 17th: Second llamada & second letra
July 1st, 8th: Short falseta into subida
July 29th & August 5th : Bulerias

Flamenco Bootcamp & Sevillanas Review
When: Saturdays 10am-11:15am (1 hour 15 min)
June 6th & 13th : coplas 1 & 2
July 4th- 11th : copla 3 (2 & 1)
August 1st - 8th: copla 4 (3, 2 & 1)

The first half of class will focus on an extensive warm up with stretches for flexibility and strength building exercises targeting arms, back, legs and abdominals. Mostly done without flamenco shoes and using a yoga mat. The second half of class will review Sevillanas.
LEVEL : You need to know ALL coplas of Sevillanas. This will class will not teach the coplas from the beginning.
